March 21st - SWOLLEN FAMILY JEWELS!!

Alright what the heck is up...I survived another week here in the ghetto streets of EL Salvador!  I got some pretty funny stories too. So last Monday, we were teaching a less active family and we just got done with the lesson. And we were talking about how the mission works because they have a son that they want to serve a mission soon....when all a sudden their little dog bit my companions BALLS...hahaha.!!! He was in some pretty good pain. So we called the nurse to see what we could do about it....she said, "Since the dog didn't break the skin you should be fine and not have to worry about rabies.  But one of your family jewels should be swollen for a couple of days....freaking heck man!  The next day we stayed in the house because he said it hurts to walk.  But now he should be fine.

Also this Wednesday we had a temple session with all the zone including President and Hermana Hintze it was awesome...so much power in that place. Its so comforting to know that we have places like temples in the world. In Utah we have 17 alone.

This Friday....we had a multizona meeting and it was soo cool. Our Mission President shared a presentation with a BIG MAC. He ate it in front of us and said..."What's wrong with this presentation?" One Hermana said..."you didn't share?" He replied, "Thats right...your message is a BIG MAC! You're sharing Heavenly Food and endless blessings in the hearts of your investigators. Sometimes you guys have investigatores that won't want to do anything...and sometimes its not your fault....but your investgadores are like babies...and the message you share is this BIG MAC.  You guys think a baby is gonna know how to eat this the first time, NO!  You gotta teach the baby how to eat...little by little.  The conversion progress is a lifelong process....just because you guys don't help convert them...doesn't mean they wont get converted down the line." It was a cool talk...and he's absolutely right.

I love president Hintze and all he does for this mission....its gonna be sad to see him go this June. I definitely learned a lot from him. The lessons he teaches us are forever. He's definitely helped me a lot about being a better teacher, missionary, but most importantly a better person. He has always says, "Teaching is not talking, teaching is listening to the hearts of your investidigadores and watching their actions."  I love that quote and try and apply that to my teaching methods everyday. He has always said "BE THE MISSIONARY THAT THEY TALK ABOUT FOREVER"  I love him and am eternally grateful for his example for me.

But more and more I'm grateful for this gospel and what Jesus Christ did for me. I love you guys and want to remind you guys that no matter what happens always choose to be happy!
"Try a little harder to be a little better" -Gordon B. Hinckley.

I want to share one more quote...

"Everyday someone will try to tell you it is impossible and you can´t do it, just keep on going and you will arrive at the Lord´s finish line!!"

Love you guys

March 14th - QUE LO QUE!!

HEY! What the heck is up Cherros?  How's your Monday?  Well this week was alright, not too much fun. So trying to think of some funny stories that are not rated R in my mission. Hahaha! I swear the mission you see the grossest most messed up people that ever lived but week by week it grows on you...some times I look back and think did we really just see that? Hahaha? Classic white Mormon boy from Utah! Like yesterday me and my comp were doing some street contacting with this drunk guy and he goes up to my companion.... falls on his feet and worships him and says..."MASTER SAVE ME! Hahaha! My comp looks at me with the funniest face ever and says, "Man, get up I'm not Christ" All the time you see people like that...but its what makes the mission fun and the mood light!

Also we celebrated a kid in our wards birthday...J,!!! He's 23 and turning in his papers in September. He always goes on splits with us. He's been a member since November and is so awesome. He was catholic...and gives strong testimony when we visit investigadors that are catholic. He's one of those kids I look up to and is fun to be around.
This week we had 3 baptisms...but all FELL THROUGH. No worries though. We're going to go talk with them next week and if it doesn't go good we're gonna have to drop them. Kind of sad. So much times in the mission that people say they don't want us and we're crazy and you young kids are just wasting our time because your message is not real...so many times that I've come up short and people slam the doors in mine and my comps face....I swear sometimes I just wanna give up and say I just don't even want to try anymore because the people don't want anything and they wont listen. but I like a quote that Kobe Bryant says about confidence......

Gotham Chopra, the director of “Kobe Bryant’s Muse”, an upcoming documentary on Bryant, told a story about being with Kobe and watching the Nets and the Heat play. Recounts Chopra, “Deron Williams went like 0-for-9. I was like, ‘Can you believe Deron Williams went 0-9?’ Kobe was like, ‘I would go 0-30 before I would go 0-9. 0-9 means you beat yourself, you psyched yourself out of the game, because Deron Williams can get more shots in the game. The only reason is because you’ve just now lost confidence in yourself.’

I like that quote a lot. Because I would rather try all day and show the Lord that I tried my best then to say that I quit. To be the best you can be you have to keep shooting. I remember a phrase that dad told me in the lacrosse. "Your a good player. And good players never quit and keep shooting...no matter how many times you miss, your bound to get one eventually". I thought about that a lot this week and it hit me so hard...I love this gospel and know it wasn't easy for any missionary especially Christ. He was the perfect teacher and they even rejected him. So all we can do is control what we can control. Well that's my words of wisdom for the week. I love you guys and you already know I'm happier than I could ever be. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I'm where I should be, doing what I should be doing right now in my life. My testimony grows stronger every week as well as my love for other people...even when they are crazy and not nice...but I want to treat people as I want to be treated. I don't know why but that's been on my mind all week and I wanted to share it.

I love you so much!

March 7th - YA TU SABES

HEY WHATS UP? A another week down...I swear the mission weeks get faster and faster, hahaha! I am not just saying that...its the truth! Everyday is super fun and super funny at the same time because people will whistle at us and always with out fail shout "Gringo" or "long live Joseph Smith!" It's pretty funny.

The members here are awesome....they always want to help out and go out and teach with us. The ward is about 120 members which is a lot better then my last area. A lot of youth that are about to go serve so its a cool thing to see. We had 2 baptismal dates last week but both of them fell....but we visited them and moved the date to the 24 of March.  But this Saturday, if we play our cards right should have a baptismal on the 12th.  Her name is Hermana R., she's about 18 and is a girlfriend of a kid in the ward. She's super cool but needs to talk to her mom about it first, so we hope the best there. She is super awesome and has a good spirit about everything.

Okay so here is a funny story for you all. SO Saturday night me and my comp were getting some free pupusas from one of our investidadores that sells them on the street. When all a sudden a gay cross dresser guy...was whistling at me and saying, "Gringo, give me a kiss!" and saying other messed up stuff.  I looked at my comp and said in Spanish with my fist clinched saying, "Bro I'm gonna knock this guy out if he says it again!" He laughed and said , "No, amigo! I don't want President Hintze to send you home so be cool!"  He was right, Hahaha!  But that guy was lucky I had a freaking plague on cuz if I didn't he would have been knocked out Mike Tyson style!! Hahaha!!

Other than that, our plans for p-day are playing monopoly because we didn't finish our game last time.  Well,  that's about it for the week. I know right now they have a deal at Pizza Hut - one pizza with a side of wings....for 6 bucks...I'm gonna hit that up!!

I love you so much!

This is my district

For one of our district meetings, we tried to see who could fit the most marshmallows in our mouth.  I got 5 and this other missionary got 8!!
